Statement of Faith
Statement
of Faith
1. The Scriptures
We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testament
Scriptures, was written by men as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Therefore,
it is completely error free, being the final and complete revelation of the will
of God to man, and is the authority by which all human conduct, creeds, and
opinions should be tried. (2 Tim.
3:16,17; Is.
8:20; 1
Thess. 5:21)
2. The True God
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons-
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3. Man
We believe man was created in the image of God; that he
voluntarily sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also
spiritual death which is separation from God.
We believe that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and upon
reaching the age of accountability become sinners, through thought and deed by
choice.
(Gen.1:27,31;
3:6-24;
Is.
53:6; Ezek.
18:19,20; Rom.
1:20; 5:19)
4. Satan
We believe in the reality and personality of Satan.
5. Salvation
We believe the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace
through the mediatorial office of the Son of God, Who died for our sins
according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice
and that all who by faith receive Him as their personal Savior are justified on
the ground of His blood shed on Calvary and His resurrection from the dead, and
are born again of the Holy Spirit, thereby becoming the children of God.
We believe that the blessings of salvation are made free to whosoever
will come by the Gospel. (Eph.
2:8; Jn.
3:16; Is.
53:4,5; Heb.
2:18; 7:27;
Col.
2:9; Jn.
1:16; Acts
13:39; Ro.
5:9)
6. The Church
We believe in the visible church which is an assembly of
believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible confession of faith, and
associated for worship, work, and fellowship.
We believe that to this visible church were committed for perpetual
observance until the Lord's return, two ordinances: the baptism of believers by immersion and the Lord's Supper.
We believe that God has given the church the responsibility of preaching
the Gospel to every creature and the edification of the individual members of
the Body of Christ. (Mt.
18:17; 28:20;
1
Cor. 1:1-13; 11:2;
Acts
2:41,42; 1 Tim.
3)
7. Last Things
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead, the unsaved to eternal, conscious suffering and woe in
Hell and the saved to eternal life and blessedness in Heaven.
(Jn.
5:29)
8. Assurance
We believe in the eternal security of the believer. (Jn.
10:27-29)
9. Church and State.
We believe that civil government is of divine appointment
and the leaders should be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed,
providing their actions are within the will of God. We also believe that each church is independent and
autonomous, and must be free from any interference by any ecclesiastical or
political authority; therefore, the church and state must be kept separate as
having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from the dictation
or patronage of the other.
10. Christian Living
We believe that every saved person should manifest the
Christian life in a consistent walk in the Holy Spirit. We believe in a
separated life for all believers as set forth in 2
Cor. 6:14 and 7:1, including
separation from unequally yoked marriages and worldly alliances and pleasures,
continued questionable occupations, worldly societies, etc.
